BLM Stages a Sleepover

This past Friday night (April 23-24), BLM Denver held an overnight "sit in" at the state Capitol.

It was a peaceful group that had plentiful supplies to make it through the night. AS usual with BLM, well organized with their own security. This group is easier to approach and talk to (not perfect or super welcoming by any means, but nothing like the black bloc crew).

A short trip to District 6 station - right in front of Romantix.

The following video give a good view of the size of the group as it moves west on Colfax heading back to the Capitol. Looked like around 100+ people at this march. Not sure how many spent the night.
I have not seen this particular BLM group organize actions that descend into wonton property destruction (this is the same one that was out last Saturday). At least not since the very early days of last summer when they had little to no control over the massive crowds. So far this year, its mostly speeches, chants, marches and once in a while some stickers on street poles. The more antifa aligned groups behave differently in some cases.
But of course DPD and State Patrol were ready for any shenanigans.

State Patrol on way to District 6. It's noteworthy that these guys keep out of the way of the march in most cases. They have teams like this along with support cars on the streets parallel to Colfax. In this case its 14th and 15th with the march on Colfax. It became quite clear last summer that police presence has the ability to provoke the crowd as was seen numerous times last summer. Police have modified tactics to acknowledge this reality.
DPD on 15th. Not much for them to do on this night.
I went back in the morning (no I did not camp out with them) and the group was most likely on a march. They had a few people watching their supplies at the Capitol.
I did find these guys out back however. Seems like Arsenal soccer fans are protesting their ownership - Kroenke Sports & Entertainment who also own the Avalanche and the Nuggets. If it's a protest, I'm happy to report on it!

Not a bad turnout for a team that is 4500 miles away.
