Street Life
We'll have a number of posts categorized as "Street Life" that explain some of the odd protest or social movement related terms, trends, kinks or whatever crazy stuff is happening. You see some reference to some of these things in the mainstream, but it's never explained in a way that isn't part of the agenda of the news organization,
Let's start with some vocabulary.

Black Bloc - Black bloc is a tactic originally developed in Europe during the anti globalization movement in the 1990. Everyone dresses in black to provide cover to the group members. "Who broke the window? The guy wearing black." It's not a uniform but it does stand out and it's scary to people without a doubt.
The photo to the right shows good black bloc that is non-descript, looks normal and can be discard after leaving.
Chuds - Originally from a sci fi cult classic CHUD stands for Canabalistic Humanoid Under Dweller. Urban dictionary says it's now use to insult dumb ugly people. Left wing protesters use it as a pejorative for patriot militia members that circle and shadow their protest marches. e.g. - "Hey watch out, there's Chuds over on 10th."

These are Denver Police Bear Cats.
Bear Cats - you probably don't hear about Bear Cats that much but maybe you've seen them. They are the kind of thing television news likes to show. The Lenco Bear Cat is an armored car made for police. The demilitarized hand me downs from the Army were upgraded to specialty products made for the modern urban police force. It might be safe to say the "Bear Cat" is the Kleenex of armored police vehicles. Hopefully we don't all become more familiar with them.
