In the wake of the Capitol riot, local authorities braced for "armed protests" at state capitols across the country. In Denver, some businesses and state buildings were boarded up. The much hyped and feared protests did not materialized.

More photographers than anything.

There were far more people at the homeless clothing handout over in Civic Center park.
There were people of all points of views there including a guy with a bullhorn giving quite a nice talk about how he was able to kick a horrible drug habit by embracing God. He was actually quite good. I didn't hang around. There were more media, live streamers and photographers than there were activists of any sort.
And while there are definitely buildings boarded up....

Many businesses were not boarded up, including one's that had troubles last summer. Also, it appears to me, that many of the boarded up businesses actually look like they are closed, maybe due to Covid, and the storefronts are empty and thus remain boarded up.
The amount of businesses boarded up is considerably less than they were last summer at the peak of unrest.

While Wednesday the 20th still lies ahead, I don't see much happening based on what I have seen. I think there will be celebratory gatherings but I am not expecting a huge counter presence. Regardless, we'll let you know what its like on the street right here.
